Install shower door on glass tile
Installing a one hundred pound door on glass tile poses an interesting obstacle for our shop. From our picture, you can see that we mounted a pivot shower door from glass tile. Our first step is to drill through the tile without scalding or breaking it. The second obstacle it to mount our hinges to the wall without breaking the glass tile in the process.
We have found that installing studs behind the door mounting area before your tiles are installed gives us a place to secure our screws without relying on the glass to do any weight bearing.
The finished product is stunning, but be prepared to replace a few glass tiles in the worst case scenario.
